In-Office or Phone Sessions?
The benefit of phone and e-mail coaching sessions is that it can be done in the privacy and convenience of your own environment. It is interesting to note that coaching in a "virtual" manner (phone & internet) can actually be MORE effective than traditional face-to-face. This is primarily because those who experience virtual coaching, claim that they have less inhibitions to say what they really want, don't need to be concerned with what their facial expressions may be saying, and tend to be more honest in their communications than when receiving coaching in person.
When coaching over the phone, the professional and the client gains the ability to "hear" more effectively - much like a blind person adapts by increasing other senses. When coaching through text messages and e-mails, it gives both the coach and the client the time to pause between exchanges, think things through, write thoughts down, edit them, and ponder them before sending the communication.
As you may have discovered by now, there are benefits and variations to both therapy and coaching, so it really depends upon what your needs and wants are. It is extremely important that the professional you choose to work with is ready, willing and capable of serving your specific needs and can help you determine whichever method is more appropriate for your particular situation.
